Javelin Venture Partners Announces New Fund
February 16, 2011
Javelin Venture Partners, an early-stage venture capital firm, today announced the closing of Javelin Venture Partners II, a $105 million fund dedicated to investing in information technology start-ups. The fund will focus its investments in the areas of digital media, Internet commerce and services, advertising platforms, cloud computing, mobile and healthcare IT.
Javelin Venture Partners II will be led by managing directors Noah Doyle and Jed Katz, both former entrepreneurs who have built multiple companies from inception to successful exit. The fund will invest in approximately 20 companies, with initial investments ranging from $500K to $3M, and reserves for follow-ons. Continuing with the focus on early stage, capital efficient technology companies, the fund will invest in initial financing rounds from Seed to Series A.
"We are truly enthused to start investing from Javelin's second fund," said Noah Doyle, Managing Director. "We're seeing incredible innovation from entrepreneurs around the world, and are eager to back teams we feel are resourceful, clever, attacking very large markets, and can create scalable, capital efficient and high-growth companies."
"Javelin prides itself on its entrepreneurial DNA," added Jed Katz, Managing Director. "Most of our careers were spent doing exactly what the entrepreneurs pitching us are doing now. We're confident that this helps us spot promising start-ups, and guide the founders through the many challenges of creating a fast growing, successful company. Javelin II is well positioned in this climate of rapid innovation."
